Boost Your Brain for Peak Performance

Most people work on building up and boosting their financial assets. But how many people work on building up and boosting their greatest asset: their brain?

The emerging field of neuroplasticity has shown that the brain can change its own structure and function. It can grow new cells, new circuits and new connections in response to what we do, what we think and how we behave.

We are far more than passive victims of our genes: we play an active role in how our brains develop throughout our lives. However most of us are yet to realise the enormous personal power this gives us.

For the brain to stay healthy and operate at its best, we need the right nutrition, rest, stimulation, challenge and reward. Most importantly, we also need to take charge of our thinking because our thoughts play an integral role in wiring our brains for optimal performance.

Learning Outcomes & Specific Take Aways

This presentation distils the essence of the neuroplastic revolution and gives immediately implementable, practical suggestions to improve the functioning of the brain. By applying this knowledge, we can:

  • sharpen our thinking
  • improve concentration and memory – at any age
  • tap into brain potential we never knew we had
  • expand our creativity
  • increase our capacity for learning and problem solving
  • reduce our risk of developing depression, anxiety disorders and Alzheimer’s disease
  • prevent the cognitive decline we’ve mistakenly believed was inevitable with ageing
  • perform at our peak on a daily basis and achieve far more than we ever thought possible

Dr. Peta Stapleton

Emotional Freedom Techniques for Food Cravings and Emotional Eating

In 2008 Dr Peta Stapleton conducted a world first clinical trial investigating whether Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) could decrease food cravings in overweight/obese adults.  We found for 96 adults EFT resulted in improvement in food cravings, the subjective power of food and craving restraint and this was maintained 12-months later.  On average adults lost 5.5 kilograms (11 lbs). A recent trial of EFT versus the gold standard treatment Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) showed the EFT group lost on average 6.79kgs (15 lbs) over 12-months whereas the CBT group lost only 4.33kgs (9.54 lbs).  The EFT treatment was superior for reducing anxiety and food cravings a year later.

This workshop will teach the principles of EFT and demonstrate the program outline from the research trials, so attendees can replicate themselves or with clients.  It will be hands-on, experiential and you will give up a food craving during the day!

Helping Kids Tap into Success and Happiness (Including the Kid in You)

Life is full of opportunities and challenges. How a child handles those challenges can either cultivate a mindset that creates happiness and success, or one that retreats from what is possible. Tapping/EFT is a fantastic tool, for helping kids handle life more successfully and joyfully.

You want the best for the children in your life. In this engaging and experiential workshop, we will look at how to use Tapping in a variety of situations, helping your child become more resilient, thus having greater freedom to success.

And it’s not just for kids. One of the best ways to help your child to be happier and more successful is to be an effective role model. As we explore how to help kids overcome whatever might block them, we will be clearing out our internal blocks as well. (So you can benefit from this even if you don’t have kids of your own).

Dr. David Hamilton

How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body

In this workshop you will learn all about how your mind affects your body, including how the placebo effect works, how mind and emotions impact the heart and immune system, and how meditation changes brain structure.

You will also learn how visualisation alters brain circuits and how the brain doesn’t distinguish between real and imaginary.

David will also share successful strategies used by people all over the world that helped facilitate their recoveries from illness, injury, and disease and teach you the key principles involved.

Dr. Lori Leyden

Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Children, Healing Our World

Dr. Lori Leyden’s workshops and private sessions are for those committed to personal, community and global healing.  Since 2007, Dr. Leyden has experienced the power of providing love and the right resources to help traumatized young people heal from the most horrific of human tragedies.

In this workshop, Lori will share her personal journey and the fundamentals of her healing work with The Grace Process and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping. In addition, Lori will discuss insights and strategies from establishing Project LIGHT: Rwanda, the world’s first international youth healing, heart-centered leadership and economic sustainability program and collaborating with The Tapping Solution Foundation to head up the Newtown Trauma Relief and Resiliency  Project, supporting those traumatized by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Participants will experience The Grace Process and EFT/Tapping as powerful community peace building skills and strategies for creating Mind-Heart Resiliency for Australian communities.

Dr Joe Dispenza

Making Your Mind Matter

Your reality is created by beliefs and perceptions that are based on thoughts and feelings. Every time you have a thought, you make a chemical and turn on a set of circuits in your brain that produces a level of mind for you to begin to feel exactly the way you were just thinking, and then think the way you feel, and feel the way you think; and this cycle creates a state of being.

In this engaging workshop, you will learn about the epigenetic model of reality—signaling the gene ahead of the environment, choosing a future possibility, and bringing it to life in the present moment. The experience changes the circuitry in the brain and creates additional elevated emotions that cause us to come out of our resting states and produce new, long-term memories; and thus create a new future for ourselves.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)

Who should attend Mind Heart Connect?

EVERYONE in the community will benefit from attending this event.

Professionals in primary medical and allied health disciplines including general practitioners, psychologists, social workers, mental health nurses, psychiatrists, counsellors, performance and coaching experts will particularly benefit. Students and recent graduates from psychology/health/medicine related disciplines will also learn and benefit.

It is an open event for everyone from all walks of life, so please don’t feel you need to be a professional to attend. You may simply wish to expand your personal knowledge and have the ability to implement a new modality in your life.

Why has EFT/tapping been chosen for the master class sessions?

EFT means “Emotional Freedom Techniques” and is a powerful self-help method. EFT uses elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy, and combines them with Acupressure, in the form of fingertip tapping on acupuncture points.

Over 20 clinical trials published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems.

According to a news report on Examiner.com, EFT is “one of the most successful psychology self-help techniques ever developed.”  READ MORE

Is EFT/tapping evidence based?

In a critical review published in the American Psychological Association’s (APA) journal Review of General Psychology in 2012, researchers found that EFT “consistently demonstrated strong effect sizes and other positive statistical results that far exceed chance after relatively few treatment sessions.” http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/gpr/16/4/364/

EFT has been researched in more than 10 countries, by more than 60 investigators, whose results have been published in more than 20 different peer-reviewed journals…

EFT research includes investigators affiliated with many different institutions – these range from Harvard Medical School, to the University of California at Berkeley, to City University of New York, to Walter Reed Military Medical Center, to Texas A&M University, to JFK University. Institutions in other countries whose faculty have contributed to EFT research include Staffordshire University (United Kingdom), Lund University (Sweden), Ankara University (Turkey), Santo Tomas University (Philippines), Lister Hospital (England), Cesar Vallejo University (Peru), Bond University (Australia) and Griffith University (Australia).

As this event is being held over a weekend, I would like to bring my family. Are children able to attend? What activities are available for children?

While we support the idea of travelling with children and having family time, this 3 day event is best suited for people aged 15 years and over. In order to maximise your time and learning during the event, we strongly suggest you attend without younger children.  There are no child-care facilities provided, and any teens attending with you will also need to purchase a registration to attend sessions.

Where do I find ticket pricing information?

By joining our Priority List, you will be one of the first to learn of our pricing structure. More information coming soon.

How will I benefit by participating in this event?

This is a unique opportunity to learn from the leaders in the field, and hear the evidence behind these techniques. You will walk away not just with knowledge and skill, but with a personal experience of HOW the techniques work.

I am new to EFT/tapping. Will I still benefit from attending?

Absolutely! You will learn about tapping from a newcomer’s perspective and develop enough knowledge to be able to use the technique yourself.
